(Houston, Texas – May 4, 2022) – FisherBroyles, LLP is pleased to announce David Black has joined the Firm in Houston.

David joins FisherBroyles’ Corporate Department and its M&A and Banking & Financial Services practices. He brings significant experience and concentrates his practice on M&A, Corporate Governance, Employment and Real Estate.

He joins the Firm from Ulmer & Berne, LLP, where he was a Partner and Vice Chair of its corporate group. David provides owner/manager teams with practical, business-oriented advice across the business life cycle: from acquisition and capitalization to the opportunities and challenges of sustained growth, to succession planning and divestiture.

Prior to being admitted to the bar, David enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He was selected for service in the Presidential Guard at Marine Barracks Washington, D.C., marching in the inauguration of President George H.W. Bush and later serving in the security detail for the Office of the Secretary of Defense. Following his honorable discharge from active duty, David served as a reservist with the 4th Marine Reconnaissance Battalion in Anchorage, Alaska, completing the 12-week Basic Reconnaissance Course and the United States Army Airborne School. He later joined the Army National Guard where he completed Officer Candidate School and the Infantry Office Basic Course, eventually resigning from the U.S. Army Reserve at the rank of Captain to focus on his legal career.

David was recognized by The National Law Journal in its inaugural list of Finance, Banking & Capital Markets Trailblazers in 2019. He also holds a J.D. from the University of Notre Dame and a B.A. in Economics from the University of Washington.
