FisherBroyles Welcomes Matthew Wawrzyn

Chicago, Illinois – January 29, 2024 — FisherBroyles, LLP is pleased to announce Matthew Wawrzyn has joined the Firm as a Partner in Chicago. He moves to the Firm after over a decade at Wawrzyn LLC, where he was the Founding Partner.

Matthew joins the Firm’s Litigation Practice, bringing significant experience as a seasoned commercial and intellectual property litigator. He specializes in defending corporations facing high-stakes litigation. Among his recent accomplishments, he secured summary judgment of non-infringement in a patent-infringement case for a Fortune 500 life sciences firm.

Matthew is also an accomplished appellate advocate. In 2022, he obtained reversals in the Federal Circuit for three different clients, including a precedential decision interpreting means-plus-function claims and a precedential decision regarding patent eligibility.

Additionally, Matthew has significant experience in criminal litigation. He accepts criminal defense appointments from the Seventh Circuit appeals court, highlighting his commitment to the rights of defendants.

Prior to founding Wawrzyn LLC, Matthew previously held roles at Kirkland & Ellis LLP and Winston & Strawn LLP.

Matthew is admitted in Illinois and to the United States Supreme Court, Courts of Appeal for the Federal, Seventh, and Eighth Circuits, and District Courts in Illinois, Wisconsin, and Indiana.

He received his B.A. in History and English from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and his J.D. from DePaul University College of Law.
