(New York – June 18, 2020) – FisherBroyles, LLP, the first and largest distributed law firm in the world, is delighted to announce The Hon. Patrick J. Murphy has joined the Firm in Philadelphia. He served as the thirty-second U.S. Under Secretary of the Army and was the first veteran of the Iraq war to be elected to the House of Representatives, representing Pennsylvania’s eighth congressional district between 2007-2011. Secretary Murphy is the latest partner to join FisherBroyles and its unique Law Firm 2.0® model.

A serial entrepreneur and general partner at the Stony Lonesome Group, Secretary Murphy joins the Firm from Dilworth Paxson LLP and focuses his practice on entrepreneurship, innovation and emerging companies. Additionally, as a Commissioner on the US Cyberspace Solarium Commission, he advises C-Suite leaders on cyber security and data privacy with recent updates to Sarbanes Oxley.

As a former federal and military prosecutor, and a former partner at two AmLaw 100 firms, Secretary Murphy provides counsel on best practices and strategy for the most contentious situations.

Secretary Murphy is a member of numerous public and private sector boards, including: BAE Systems Inc., Director; Cerner Federal Board, Chairman; Adobe Federal Board, Director; WorkMerk, Executive Chairman; Psych Hub, Director; and CTIS, Director.

Secretary Murphy currently holds the Distinguished Chair of Innovation at the United States Military Academy at West Point, was a Board Member from 2011-2016, and also served as Assistant Professor from 2000-2003. In 2015, he was a Visiting Fellow at the University of Chicago and has served as a Guest Lecturer at Harvard, Stanford, and Princeton. He earned a B.A. from King’s College, a J.D. from Widener University Commonwealth School of Law, and is a graduate of the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General’s School.

Secretary Murphy joins the Firm as it increases headcount in the U.S. and U.K. and explores expansion into the Middle East and Asia. Recently, the Firm announced the appointment of ten new partners to its U.S. and U.K. teams, the majority of which joined from Am Law 100 firms, and the expansion of its offering in London.
