Partner Spotlight – Gordon Berger

How long have you practiced law and what is your practice area?

Since 1991 (30 years). I represent employers in labor & employment, as well as corporate matters.

Who is your typical client?

I represent a lot of companies in the contingent workforce space, such as PEOs and staffing companies.

How would you describe the labor and employment practice area at FisherBroyles?

We have a large number of corporate attorneys, so I feel we have all of the angles covered. In the labor & employment space, we have a core group of us that are fairly well connected, which includes joint articles and webinars.

How is it different from previous law firms you have worked at?

Completely different. There is no need to manage or leverage associates, no rate pressures or billing/receipts quotas. As a result, my quality of life is high and I practice law instead of spending a lot of time as a manager or administrator.

Have you been able to grow/build your personal practice since joining the Firm? If so, how and has the Firm’s model enabled that?

Absolutely! It was a game-changer to have rate discretion and not be locked in a firm-wide rate sets. I can get help all around the firm at more affordable rates!
