Partner Spotlight – Jamil French

How long have you practiced law and what is your practice area?

I was admitted to practice in New York in 2002 and in Florida in 2020.  My general practice area is securities with a focus on private investment funds.

Who is your typical client?

I work with sponsors of hedge, credit, private equity and digital asset funds who are looking to launch or grow a fund advisory business.

How would you describe the private investment funds practice area at FisherBroyles?

The Private Investment Funds group is very talented! We have a breadth of experience from other top tier law firms and in-house roles.  We have a good working relationship with other practice groups who provide us quality referrals and with whom we collaborate on transactional and regulatory questions.

How is it different from previous law firms you have worked at?

FisherBroyles understands entrepreneurship. At the same time, they reward attorneys who want a different work/life balance from traditional BigLaw firms.

Have you been able to grow/build your personal practice since joining the Firm? If so, how and has the Firm’s model enabled that?

The referrals from my Firm partners have been crucial to the growth of my personal practice.  Our competitive fee structure has opened quite a few doors with prospect clients who are tired of the overpriced and junior staffed BigLaw model.
