Partner Spotlight – John Oh

How long have you practiced law and what is your practice area?

I have been a state and federal court litigator since 1996, mainly in New York and New Jersey with pro hac vice admissions in several other states.  My main practice area is transportation, commercial, and general business litigation.

Who is your typical client?

For the past 20 years, I have been representing various owners, lessors/lessees, managers, and their business partners in connection with lawsuits arising out of airport incidents.

How would you describe the Litigation practice area at FisherBroyles?

The Litigation Practice at FisherBroyles is very diverse with good opportunities for collaboration.  My colleagues here are always willing to assist and are just an email or phone call away.

How is it different from previous law firms you have worked at?

FisherBroyles offers a much better quality of life for experienced attorneys, particularly if they can generate their own business or have unique experience/skills that can be cross-marketed.  Unlike traditional firms, the compensation model at FisherBroyles is completely transparent such that partners here can be assured that they are being treated fairly based on objective versus subjective criteria.

Have you been able to grow/build your personal practice since joining the Firm? If so, how and has the Firm’s model enabled that?

My practice has flourished at FisherBroyles and I hope to soon expand my practice into other areas.  FisherBroyles’ model allows people to work when and where they are most productive, which has been so critical during the last two years with the pandemic.  The transparency of its compensation model also encourages genuine collaboration and cross-marketing efforts among attorneys and promotes a spirit of cooperation that is truly unique to FisherBroyles.
