biography

Scott has over 20 years of experience developing and executing global patent protection strategies as well as identifying and overcoming patent infringement risks. He has extensive experience prosecuting U.S. and foreign patent applications to create business value for clients.

One area of focus in Scott’s practice is analyzing and providing patent opinions such as product clearance opinions, non-infringement/invalidity opinions, litigation pre-filing assessments, patent related merger and acquisition due diligence, and patentability opinions.

Another area of focus is handling appeals to the Patent Trial and Appeal Board. Scott aggressively appeals baseless rejections to speed prosecution and avoid filing multiple requests for continued examination, which often incentivize the examiner to prolong the prosecution process.

Scott’s background in chemical engineering, experience with a variety of technologies, and wide-ranging personal interests, give him a depth of understanding in many technical subjects. He has experience in the following areas:

  • Nuclear waste processing
  • Oil, gas, and mining including hydraulic fracturing tool...
