Palo Alto, California – February 19, 2024 — FisherBroyles, LLP is pleased to announce that James Lin has joined the firm as a Partner in Palo Alto. He joins after ten years as a Partner at TechKnowledge Law Group LLP.
James joins the Firm’s litigation practice, bringing over 20 years’ experience in patent litigation and licensing. Across his career, James has built a comprehensive skill set including licensing and settlement negotiations, pre-suit investigations, pleading stages, fact discovery, claim construction proceedings, and infringement and invalidity contentions.
James works with clients across the technology ecosystem including companies specializing in computer networking, telecommunications, cryptography, computer architecture, and semiconductors. He has represented some of the industry’s largest companies, such as Acer, Intel, and Sony Ericsson, achieving positive outcomes for his clients. Notably, he successfully served as a trial counsel for respondent/defendant Acer in a United States International Trade Commission (ITC) Section 337 action and two parallel federal district court litigations, resulting in no financial liability for the company.
Beyond his patent litigation expertise, James has significant experience in antitrust litigation, trade secrets litigation, and patent prosecution, highlighting his versatile legal acumen as he achieved multi-million dollar settlements for clients.
James’ prior experience includes roles at Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP and Fenwick & West LLP.
He received his B.B.A. from The University of Texas at Austin, and his M.S. in Computer Science from the McKelvey School of Engineering at Washington University in St. Louis. James completed his J.D. at the Washington University in St. Louis School of Law.
