Partner Spotlight – Tyler Giles

How long have you practiced law and what is your practice area?

I have been an M&A attorney since 2005, after I graduated from University of Georgia School of Law. I specialize in emerging markets and technologies, and have deep industry experience in data, analytics and machine learning.

I am also currently the Chair of FisherBroyles’ 30+ partner M&A practice group.

Who is your typical client?

My clients span the range from multi-national publicly traded data companies to start-ups in the autonomous driving space.

How would you describe the M&A practice area at FisherBroyles?

The M&A practice at FisherBroyles consists of a collaborative group of excellent Partners. We’re a friendly group who all work closely together and often socialize as well.

How is it different from previous law firms you have worked at?

This collaborative culture really makes FisherBroyles stands out.  In fact, new M&A team members often say that they are surprised how much more they communicate with their partners in our distributed model than they did in a traditional firm. We’re also much more open and egalitarian – which was a major attraction for me.

The culture is undoubtedly a result of the Firm’s unique compensation structure which incentivizes collaboration rather than competition – a significant difference from traditional firms.

Have you been able to grow/build your personal practice since joining the Firm? If so, how and has the Firm’s model enabled that?

Since I joined FisherBroyles I’ve certainly been able to grow my personal practice. What really stands out to me is the agency I have and the flexibility to work when and where I am most creative and effective.

The Firm’s distributed model has allowed me to work in so many varied places; I have closed deals in between brown outs in emerging markets and north of the Arctic Circle!
